6.6.102    FAMILIARITY WITH CODE AND RULES

(1) An insurance agent shall acquaint himself, and remain acquainted, with the Montana Insurance Code which sets forth various provisions requiring compliance. As an example, section 33- 17-1004, MCA, provides that "Any person, firm, association, or corporation who or which, in this state, acts as an insurance agent, solicitor, or adjuster without having authority to do so by virtue of a license issued and in force pursuant to the provisions of this chapter shall upon conviction, be guilty of a misdemeanor and fined $500.00 or imprisoned in the county jail for 90 days or both such fine and imprisonment."

(2) An agent shall acquaint himself, and remain acquainted, with the various administrative rules of the insurance department.
